Madaba witnessed 300% more tourist footfall in 1st two months of 2023

AMMAN — Madaba saw a 300 per cent increase in the number of visitors in January and February in 2023 compared with the same period in 2022, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In January and February of 2023, 96,286 individuals visited Madaba, compared with 20,423 visitors in 2022, according to Madaba Tourism Director Wael Janini. The majority of visitors arrived from the US, Italy, France, Spain and South Korea, Janini highlighted, noting that tourist establishments in Madaba have increased to 113 businesses, including 20 hotels, 30 tourist restaurants, 27 workshops, 31 stores, five travel and tourism agencies, and 569 hotel rooms with a capacity to accommodate 1,135 people.
The Madaba Tourism Directorate is currently working on a number of projects, including increasing tourist information panels and ticket offices, renovating health units and seating areas and installing additional railings to ensure visitors’ safety, he added.
