AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi, on behalf of lawmakers, on Tuesday sent a letter to His Majesty King Abdullah stressing solidarity with the King, the army and security apparatuses in combating terrorism.
In the letter, deputies said that over the last few days, Jordan has witnessed the state's respect for the right to peaceful expression in accordance with the law. Yet tragic incidents forced state institutions implement their responsibilities and enforce the law to confront those who seek to spread chaos and cast hate in society, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Lower Chamber has been following up on recent events in some parts of the Kingdom, the letter said. The Lower House has announced a permanent session and formed a joint committee out of the institution’s constitutional and national responsibilities to reach outcomes that prioritise national interests, according to the letter.
The letter also added that the Lower House supports the state in facing terrorism and the "enemies of life and humanity", and paid tribute to the fallen officers who sacrificed their lives to ensure the safety and security of the homeland.
Lawmakers also expressed their condolences to the King, Jordanians and the families of the fallen officers.
They also expressed the belief that Jordan will overcome these circumstances, adding that that all attempts to tamper with the security of the homeland will fail and stressing their support to all security agencies in their fight against outlaws.
