AMMAN — The Lower House on Monday approved the draft political parties’ law as referred from the Senate.
The Senate maintained the 20 per cent share of political parties for youth (18-35 years) and women, and preserved the one-year period to rectify the status of existing political parties, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Upper House also stipulated the attendance of the “majority” instead of third of founding members upon holding the founding conference of a political party, and banning the withdrawal of political parties from coalitions during Lower House elections, which accords with the recommendations of the Royal Committee to Modernise the Political System.
