AMMAN — On Tuesday, the Lower House's Permanent Office named a 40-member committee that will draft a reply to the Speech from the Throne, which His Majesty King Abdullah delivered at the opening of Parliament's ordinary session on Monday.

The House asked the permanent office to select the members of the panel before the reply is endorsed by the full House and passed to His Majesty within 14 days of the inauguration of the ordinary session, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

House Speaker Abdulkarim Dughmi thanked the King for the opening speech, noting that pending national action awaits the legislature along the path of comprehensive reforms.

He said that the Chamber will deal with the points emphasised by the King in the speech to boost performance and meet the aspirations of the people. During its first session, the permanent office set the priorities for the coming period.
