Lower House hosts unofficial session for youth issues

AMMAN — MPs, parliamentary blocs, several ministers and representatives of the youth sector on Thursday discussed the challenges facing young people and ways to support them during an unofficial Lower House session.

During the unofficial session, headed by Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh, discussions focused on finding funding methods for entrepreneurship projects in governorates, amending regulations governing support for small enterprises and working on preparing graduates for the labour market, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

The attendees also discussed comprehensively improving e-services, directing foreign funding towards investment and employment, as well as the possibility of having companies and institutions hire more young people. 

During the session, Tarawneh stressed the importance of  providing young people with the tools they need to build a better future, which conforms with the visions of His Majesty King Abdullah and HRH Crown Prince Hussein. 

Holding the unofficial session at Parliament confirms the Lower House's stance towards the importance of young people's role, Tarawneh said, urging young people to get involved with the Kingdom's institutions to work to achieve the country's highest potential. 

The Lower House will commit to following up on the recommendations of young people through its specialised committees to discuss them with the concerned ministers and adopt them in order to support the youth in all fields, the speaker said.

For their part, the ministers of education, youth and culture and parliamentary affairs presented their efforts to involve young people in various programmes and sectors.
