Lower House donates JD100,000 to support workforce affected by COVID-19 measures

AMMAN — The Lower House on Saturday donated JD100,000 to support the Kingdom’s workforce affected by the government’s measures to counter the spread of the coronavirus, calling on the government to set up a charity fund.
Stressing that this amount is an addition to the previous JD100,000 donated to benefit the Ministry of Health, Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh said that the chamber donated its surplusfor the month of March, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Tarwaneh stressed that the Lower House will continue to offer certain amounts on a monthly basis, thanks to the “rationalising of expenditures and achieving financial savings amid the crisis to optimise the use of public money”.
He also urged relevant bodies to set up a charity fund to be based on official institutions’ financial savings achieved during March and April.
