AMMAN — The Lower House on Tuesday continued deliberations over the 2022 draft state budget and the 2022 draft budgets of independent public institutions, with a focus on political and administrative reforms, economic policies and COVID-19 challenges.

MPs, during a session chaired by Lower House Speaker Abdulkarim Dughmi, called for accrediting economic recovery plans, dealing with the “chronic” budget deficit and debt rates, high poverty and unemployment rates and preparing a roadmap to attract investments, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Lawmakers also called for reconsidering mechanisms for pricing of fuel derivatives, expanding  comprehensive health insurance, reducing water losses, improving health services, continuing with in-class education, and supporting the agriculture and tourism sectors.
