AMMAN — The Ministry of Local Administration offered JD5 million to support municipalities’ response to weather during the current winter season, the ministry’s Secretary General Hussein Mheidat said on Wednesday.
The support will allow the Kingdom's municipalities to cover the costs of vehicles rental and maintenance during emergencies, as well as purchase "water suction trucks" in case floods, he said, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
He added that a total of 124 shelter centres with up to 1,500 beds were prepared in the Kingdom's various municipalities to deal with weather-related damages, as part of efforts to ensure safe accommodations for stranded citizens and guests, especially on the highways and tourist destinations.
