AMMAN — The Lower House (LH) on Wednesday praised the Australian Government's decision to reverse the transfer of its embassy to occupied Jerusalem. The Lower Chamber, in a statement, said that this resolution reflects the Australian government's commitment to international law and previous Security Council resolutions regarding international legitimacy and the two-state solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The statement recognised the decision as an affirmation of the illegitimacy of the Zionist occupation and of Jerusalem as the capital of the independent Palestinian state. The Lower House emphasised the Hashemite Custodianship of Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites and stressed Jordan's unwavering support for the Palestinian right to statehood. The statement expressed appreciation towards the Australian government and people for their "courageous" step.
