Legal Affairs minister attends launch of int’l campaign against gender-based violence

AMMAN — Minister of State for Legal Affairs and representative of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Women Empowerment Wafa Bani Mustafa on Saturday attended the launch of an annual international campaign against gender-based violence. 
Under the theme “Together to end political violence against women in the public and political fields – she has a place and a stature”, the EU-supported campaign was implemented by the Jordanian National Committee for Women Affairs and Shama'a Network (Combatting Violence against Women), the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Speaking during the event, Bani Mustafa called for stepping up efforts to enhance women’s protection and preserve their rights to a decent life. 
The minister also expressed the government’s keenness on combating all types of violence, highlighting the Kingdom’s “political will” to enhance women’s empowerment in all fields. 
She also highlighted the recommendations of the Royal Committee to Modernise the Political System, which calls for further engagement of women in public life.
