AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh received a letter from the president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Saber Chowdhury, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Sunday. Established in 1889, the IPU is the international organisation of parliaments, according to the union’s website.
In his letter, Chowdhury acknowledged receiving Tarawneh’s remarks regarding the Knesset’s legislative activities over the past two years, including the Israeli parliament’s endorsement of the “One Jerusalem” draft law, Petra said. The IPU president stressed that the union will “look into this issue carefully” and will bring up the issue to the Knesset’s leadership, noting that he will inform Tarawneh of the outcomes, Petra added.
