‘Kingdom witnessing decline in H1N1 cases

AMMAN — The Lower House’s Health Committee on Tuesday affirmed that the Kingdom is witnessing a decline in the number of H1N1 cases, citing the Weekly Influenza Surveillance Overview.

A Lower House statement quoted head of the committee Raed Hijazin, a physician, as calling on people to disregard rumours on H1N1(swine) flu that aim at misleading public opinion and serving personal agendas.

Hijazin also called on media outlets to avoid exaggeration and be precise and accurate in their coverage of the H1N1.

Authorities have registered 348 cases of H1N1 and 13 related fatalities — nine involving Jordanians — this year, health officials said at the committee meeting.
