AMMAN — Jordan Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Khaled Toukan on Thursday urged Middle East countries, including Israel, to join the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The call came in Jordan’s speech at the 60th Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna. Joining the treaty will make the region free of nuclear weapons, which will contribute to peacemaking and give a better chance for economic and social development, Toukan said.
