King visits French gendarmerie group, attends drill

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday visited the French GIGN (the National Gendarmerie Intervention Group), where His Majesty was received by French National Gendarmerie General Director Gen. Christian Rodriguez.
During the visit, King Abdullah was briefed on the operational role and tasks performed by the GIGN, and attended a military exercise conducted by GIGN formations, according to a Royal Court statement.
His Majesty also signed the GIGN guestbook.
Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Adviser to His Majesty for Communication and Coordination Bisher Khasawneh, Jordan’s Ambassador to France Makram Queisi, and Jordan’s Military Attaché in France Brig. Gen Yousef Khatib attended the exercise.
