King renews support for Iraq national consensus efforts

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday discussed with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari in Amman ways to take bilateral ties to the next level.
At the meeting, King Abdullah reiterated Jordan’s continuous support to the Iraqi people’s efforts to enroot security and stability in their country in a way that enhances consensus among the different components of the political spectra and realises the aspiration of Iraqis, according to a Royal Court statement.
Talks also covered regional developments, especially efforts to bring about peace and the situation in Syria.
For his part, Zebari underlined his country’s keenness to develop ties with the Kingdom, citing the Iraqi government’s commitment to implementing the oil-gas double pipeline project, extending from Basra in Iraq to Aqaba Port.
The Iraqi top diplomat also commended His Majesty’s approach to regional issues, the statement said.
