King receives top US officer, attends urban warfare drill

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), on Wednesday received Commander of US Central Command Gen. Joseph Votel, a Royal Court statement said.
During the meeting, attended by HRH Prince Feisal and the King's Military Adviser and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben, His Majesty and Votel discussed latest regional and international developments.
King Abdullah, Votel, Prince Feisal, senior JAF officers and a student delegation from the Education Ministry attended a tactical exercise performed by JAF’s King Hussein Bin Ali Brigade’s special operations unit.
The exercise included combat in urban areas with aerial coverage by military helicopters, parachuting and target shooting.
King Abdullah also visited the Rapid Deployment Force to check on the progress of training where he commended the unique level of the force members, the statement said.
