King receives Indonesia president-elect

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday received President-elect and Secretary of Defence of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, who is scheduled to participate in the Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza conference hosted by Jordan on Tuesday.
The meeting, attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, covered regional developments and the dangerous situation in Gaza, according to a Royal Court statement.
His Majesty stressed the importance of the upcoming humanitarian response conference in uniting efforts to coordinate and increase the delivery of aid to Gaza to mitigate the humanitarian catastrophe.
The King stressed the need to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the protection of civilians.
His Majesty commended Indonesia’s efforts in working towards peace in the region and supporting UNRWA to enable it to undertake its vital role under its UN mandate, the statement said.
The King reaffirmed the need to create a political horizon to achieve peace on the basis of the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 4 June 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The meeting also covered the strong ties between the two countries and the importance of expanding cooperation.
