King receives cables on 58th birthday

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah has received cables of well wishes on his 58th birthday, which falls on Thursday, January 30, from leaders of friendly and sisterly states.

King Abdullah received similar cables from senior officials, heads of security agencies and representatives of civil society organisations, according to a Royal Court statement.

The senders commended His Majesty’s leadership in pursuit of further prosperity and progress in Jordan as the state marches steadily towards its centennial, noting the King’s efforts on the international stage to build on Jordan’s ties with sisterly and friendly states.

They lauded His Majesty’s role in service of Arab and Islamic causes, stressing the importance of the King’s efforts to highlight the true image of Islam and his historical role in safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, in line with the Hashemite Custodianship, the statement said.

They also noted that Jordan’s firm stance against extremism and its continuing efforts to promote peace have made it a model to follow, the statement concluded.
