King, Queen return from Washington after former US president’s funeral

AMMAN — Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania returned home on Thursday following a short visit to Washington, DC, to attend George H. W. Bush’s funeral and extend their condolences to the Bush family, a statement by the Royal Court said.
During the four-day visit, King Abdullah met with US Secretary of Defence James Mattis to discuss bilateral ties and ways to develop military cooperation, the Royal Court said.
Discussions went over efforts to reach political solutions to a number of regional issues and crises, as well as efforts to combat terrorism within a holistic approach, among other issues. King Abdullah and Queen Rania on Monday had left to Washington, DC, according to Royal Court.
