King meets Japan economy minister in Tokyo

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday met with Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Nishimura Yasutoshi in Tokyo to discuss means of expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.
King Abdullah highlighted Jordan’s Economic Modernisation Vision, and potential sectors for cooperation with Japan, such as water, ICT, and efforts to mitigate the impact of climate change, according to a Royal Court statement.
At the meeting, attended by HRH Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, His Majesty’s chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy, the King expressed appreciation of Japan’s support for refugees and host communities, highlighting the importance of the development partnership between the two countries.
His Majesty reaffirmed the need for regional and international cooperation to deal with the challenges of energy and food security caused by the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
For his part, Minister Nishimura commended Jordan’s role in enhancing regional economic cooperation and hosting refugees.
Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, and Jordan’s Ambassador to Japan Lina Annab attended the meeting.
