King checks on PSD measures to safeguard public security, uphold rule of law

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, on Tuesday commended the efforts of the Public Security Directorate’s (PSD) personnel, especially amidst the COVID-19 crisis.

During a visit to the PSD and a meeting with its director, Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh, attended by HRH Prince Rashid, King Abdullah noted the importance of merging security agencies, which has helped enhance coordination, ensure efficient utilisation of resources, and cut expenses, according to a Royal Court statement.

His Majesty checked on the PSD’s plans and measures to safeguard public health and security, and uphold the rule of law.

The King reaffirmed the need for all to adhere by public safety measures, by wearing masks and maintaining social distancing, in order to counter COVID-19.

His Majesty was briefed by Maj. Gen. Hawatmeh on the PSD’s security and administrative measures to enhance performance, as well as its efforts to work in coordination with the armed forces and various public institutions to uphold the rule of law.
