AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday conducted an unannounced visit to Umm Ayyash town in Deir Alla District.
His Majesty sought to check on the condition of two underprivileged families after receiving reports on their poor health, economic and social situation, according to a Royal Court statement.
The visit is part of “His Majesty's humanitarian efforts to check upon underprivileged families, especially during the fasting month of Ramadan”, to keep abreast of their needs, the statement said.
King Abdullah visited the five-member family of Asma Falah, all suffering from heart disease and living in tough conditions, the statement said, adding that the family members briefed the King on their living and medical needs.
King Abdullah immediately issued directives to build a house for the family, furnish it entirely and provide Falah and her family with the necessities of a decent life, including treatment at the Royal Medical Services.
The King also visited Fihmi Balawneh, the sole breadwinner of a family of eight, six of whom are children.
Fihmi suffers from several chronic diseases that have made him unable to work and provide for his family.
King Abdullah directed the concerned officials at the Royal Court to build and fully furnish a house for the Balawnehs.
The King also issued directives to provide necessary treatment for the father.
The families thanked His Majesty for his visit and his efforts to meet their needs.
His Majesty was accompanied by Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh and Royal Court Secretary General Yousef Issawi, who also heads a committee entrusted with following up on Royal initiatives.
