AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday was briefed on the government’s National Plan for Sustainable Agriculture (2022-2025), during a meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace.

During the meeting, attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, King Abdullah stressed the need for the plan to lead to creating job opportunities to alleviate poverty and unemployment, according to a Royal Court statement.

His Majesty called for incorporating agri-tech tools to increase production while conserving water resources.

To implement the agricultural plan, the King highlighted the need for cooperation among various institutions, as well as enhancing partnership between the public and the private sectors.

Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh and Agriculture Minister Khaled Hneifat highlighted the plan’s details, noting that it comes after consulting all stakeholders.

Hneifat said the government, in devising the plan, has taken into account the challenges related to climate change, rain scarcity, the impact of regional development on exports, and the need to secure funds for capital projects.
