King attends JAF ceremony marking Al Karamah Battle’s 54th anniversary

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, on Monday attended the JAF’s ceremony at the memorial site for the martyrs of Al Karamah Battle on its 54th anniversary.
King Abdullah, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, was received in the Jordan Valley town of Al Karamah by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Hneiti and senior officers, according to a Royal Court statement.
His Majesty laid a wreath at the Unknown Soldier Monument and recited verses from the Holy Koran.
The King also met with a number of veterans who were injured in Al Karamah Battle, and expressed his pride in them and in all veterans and personnel of the JAF and security agencies, highlighting their important role in serving the country and the nation.
Led by His Majesty the late King Hussein, the 1968 Al Karamah Battle was a milestone in the history of the JAF, in which the Arab Army achieved a historic victory.
