AMMAN — The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) opened registration for the “Darb Internship” project for the thirteenth consecutive year on Sunday.

The project aims to bridge the gap between education and practical experience by introducing participants to the work environment, promoting a culture of training, increasing the number of available opportunities for practical training in public and private sector institutions — especially in governorates facing limited opportunities — and fostering a culture of volunteer work and self-confidence, according to a statement from KAFD.

The project targets students from Jordanian universities and fresh graduates under specific conditions. The KAFD statement invited those who wish to participate to register through the project’s website: https://darb.jo/ between April 9 and May 21.

Project participants will attend a number of preparatory training workshops, in addition to practical training within the host companies for a period of four weeks.

The theoretical training includes various topics such as self-discovery, writing resumes, preparing for interviews, job market behaviors, volunteering and community service, an introduction to practical training, job market skills, teamwork, problem solving and creative thinking, ethics in the job market and designing community initiatives.

The project was launched in 2011 and is implemented in partnership with the social enterprise, LoYAC. The Darb project has organised twelve training sessions so far, benefitting 12,626 participants, 1,022 of whom obtained permanent employment opportunities after completing their training.
