AMMAN — The King Abdullah Fund for Development (KAFD) on Sunday launched five new projects aimed at providing Jordanian youth with job opportunities through entrepreneurship and encouraging them to invest their energy.

The KAFD launched the projects to extend their work to more beneficiaries and meet the changing needs of the targeted categories, according to KAFD Director Saeb Al Hassan.

The projects were distributed among the fund’s pillars of work, according to a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Within the Communication and Community Awareness programme, the “media and information education” project will aim to develop university students’ skills in dealing with media and information resources by developing their media capabilities.

“Utilise your hobby” will target youth interested in creating content for social media platforms and develop their creative skills. The project will be implemented within the “capability building” programme.

The project “applied scientific research” is devoted to young people who conduct applied scientific research and seeks to support those who have found solutions to their communities’ problems. The project will be implemented through the “Entrepreneurship” programme.

The “social entrepreneurship challenge” will also be included in the “Entrepreneurship” pillar and aims to support young people’s solutions for social challenges as well as provide self-recruitment opportunities.

The All Jordan Youth Commission will also launch the “fellowship project with the Lower House” in order to introduce young Jordanians to the House’s role as an essential tool of democracy and decision making.

All data related to participation in these projects will be announced on the KAFD’s website.

The projects fall under the KAFD’s programme plan for 2019, which coincided with the 20th anniversary of His Majesty King Abdullah’s Ascension to the Throne.

The KAFD was established under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah to help implement the King’s holistic vision for sustainable development through productive projects that improve socioeconomic circumstances of citizens, according to the organisation’s website.

The fund was established in 2001 as an NGO, and works to develop key sectors in Jordan and improve standard of living for all segments of the community through initiatives targeting individuals as well as the public, private and civil society sectors.
