AMMAN — Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat on Sunday discussed the latest developments in Gaza and the efforts to arrive at a lasting ceasefire.
Erekat highlighted the main points and outcome of the negotiations the Palestinian delegation is conducting in Cairo to arrive at a truce with the Israeli side that could lead to a sustainable ceasefire, asserting that the points the Palestinian side agreed on represent the demands of the Arab nation.
Judeh reaffirmed Jordan’s full support for the Palestinian people and negotiators, underlining the importance of arriving at a permanent ceasefire.
Stressing the importance of the Egyptian efforts and Jordan’s support for the Egyptian initiative for a ceasefire, he said a political solution and comprehensive negotiations that guarantee the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on Palestinian national soil is the only means to prevent the recurrence of the Israeli aggression.
Erekat expressed the Palestinians’ appreciation of the Jordanian role in support of the Palestinians.
The meeting is in line with Jordan’s continued consultations to end the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
