AMMAN — The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) on Saturday received a delegation of senior clerics from the Greek Church on a visit to Christian religious sites in the Kingdom, with the aim of attracting more Christian pilgrims from Greece to Jordan, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Tourism Minister Nayef Fayez expressed his appreciation of the visit of the delegation and their choosing of the Kingdom as a religious tourist destination, due to its numerous Christian religious tourist sites.
It is expected that, through joint tourism promotion for religious sites in the Kingdom, the number of Christian tourists visiting Jordan from Europe will increase, he said.
JTB Director General Abdulrazzaq Arabiyat welcomed the delegation, highlighting the importance of the visit.
He stressed that Christian pilgrimage managers are the Kingdom’s ambassadors to Greece, and through them, Greek tourists are encouraged to visit Jordan, “the land of prophets, saints and martyrs”.
The JTB seeks to increase cooperation with the church represented in the Holy Synod, which aims to increase the number of Christian pilgrims coming from Greece to Jordan.
