AMMAN — The Jordan Press Foundation (JPF), which publishes Al Rai and The Jordan Times dailies, on Sunday began receiving aid in support of Gaza and Palestine at its headquarters located on Queen Rania Abdullah Street (formerly University Street), near Mahmoud Al Kayed Square (the Press Tunnel).
The collected supplies will then be shipped through the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO).
Shehadeh Abu Baqar, the chairperson of the foundation's board of directors, said that the campaign started at 8am, Sunday, and will continue until Thursday. The initiative is open to all willing participants who can contribute according to their ability.
Contact was made with Hussein Al Shibli, JHCO Secretary General, to learn about the current needs of the Gazans, with a particular focus on food, Abu Baqar said.
The Social Committee of Al Rai will oversee the campaign and the receipt of donations, whether they come from staff or the general public. On the campaign’s final day, all collected items will be handed over to the JHCO.
Abu Baqar expressed his hope that the campaign will set a positive example for companies, institutions and individuals, encouraging them to contribute to the relief of the Palestinians. He noted that contributions are considered one of the most effective ways to demonstrate solidarity during these difficult times.
At the end of the campaign, in response to Royal directives to support Gazans, the JPF will publish the names of the individuals and organisations who have contributed.
The JPF encouraged those interested in donating and participating in the campaign to contact the foundation for more information at: 06/5600800, 0795593653, 0790337537, 0795719424, or 0791200560.
