AMMAN — Jordan Press Association (JPA) President Tareq Momani and JPA member Muwafaq Kamal on Wednesday visited Al Rai columnist Abdulhadi Raji Majali at Marka Correctional and Rehabilitation Centre.
Majali was detained on Sunday over an article he posted on Facebook.
Momani expressed the JPA’s rejection of detaining journalists over published material, stressing that the association is looking into procedures to secure Majali’s release on bail, according to a JPA statement.
Majali thanked his colleagues for supporting him and for speaking out against the detention of journalists, which contradicts the Press and Publications Law and the Constitution.
