AMMAN — Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Jumana Ghunaimat on Friday described the Kingdom’s position on the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem as “irreversible”, during an appearance on Jordan Television’s 60 Minutes programme.
Under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, Jordan’s clear stance has put the Palestinian cause at the heart of the international community’s priorities and drawn attention to the two-state solution, which stipulates the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as Palestine’s capital, she said.
In the interview, Ghunaimat also highlighted international coordination to support Palestinians seeking their legitimate rights, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
“Jordan does not know the details of the ‘Deal of the Century’,” she said, adding that King Abdullah’s three noes still apply. She added that the Kingdom would also continue its role of Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
During the interview, the minister touched on the Kingdom’s economic situation, saying that the government is aware of the challenges facing citizens.
Commenting on the National Assistance Fund’s support programme, the minister said that the programme would provide aid to 25,000 new families during the holy month of Ramadan.
