Jordan’s dams received 4.2mcm rainwater between Sunday and Tuesday — Water Ministry

AMMAN — The Water Ministry/Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) on Tuesday said that the Kingdom's dams received 4.2 million cubic metres (mcm) of rainwater between Sunday and Tuesday morning.
Rainfall in all regions of the Kingdom rose to 91.6 per cent of the overall rate, accounting for 115.2 per cent of rainfall registered during the 2021/2022 season, with last year's precipitation reaching 72.4 per cent of the long-term average, according to a ministry statement.
The ministry noted that some 2mcm entered the dams in the last 24 hours, raising the total amount of stored water to 119.5mcm, or 42.5 per cent of their total storage capacity of 280.759mcm, mainly in King Talal dam with 1.465mcm.
In the past 24 hours, Qadisiyah District in Tafileh recorded the highest precipitation of 22.5 millimetres (mm), while precipitation in Amman stood at 2.4mm, Balqa at 2.9mm, Madaba at 2.5mm, Zarqa at 0.4mm, Jerash at 1.4mm, Mafraq at 0.7mm, Irbid at 2.2mm, Ajloun at 2.4mm, Karak at 5.5mm, Tafileh at 10.2mm, Maan at 5mm, and Aqaba at 0.8mm.
