Jordanians commend Schalke nod on Independence Day

AMMAN — Jordanian social media users on Monday commended German football club Schalke’s gesture of publishing a post of congratulations on their Facebook and Twitter pages for Jordan on the occasion of Independence Day.
FC Schalke 04 posted the phrase “Happy Independence Day” in the shape of a Jordanian flag.
On Facebook, the message of congratulations attracted over 5,700 likes by Monday evening and was shared by over 1,000 users.
Hundreds of Jordanians commented on the post by expressing thanks and appreciation for the club, which ended sixth in the German football league (Bundesliga) standing.
Facebook user Omar Ali Maizo wrote that all Jordanians appreciate the gesture of the club, which played in the last 16 round of the UEFA Champions League.
Omar Smeiran wrote that he will become a Schalke supporter in the Bundesliga.
“Thanks... all my respect #FC_Schalke_04,” commented Omar J Al Nsour.
Zaid M Abu Kabeer wrote: “Thank you for the congratulations... We love you.”
“From now on, I’m a Schalke supporter,” wrote Mohammad Alshboul.
Founded in 1904, Schalke have won seven German championships.
The club is considered one of German football’s giants in terms of stadium, fan base and success.
The Facebook page of FC Schalke is liked by around 2.5 million users.
The club’s English Twitter account is followed by over 29,000 users, while their German account has 290,000 fans.
