'Jordanian women’s role in political arena improves considerably’

AMMAN — The role of Jordanian women in the political arena is “improving considerably”, with Jordanian women, during the last parliamentary elections, garnering 490,509 votes, Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Musa Maaytah said on Monday.
Speaking during a workshop organised by Al Hayat Centre for Civil Society Development (Rased), under the theme “Roles of women parliamentarians in the 19th parliament”, the minister, who is also the head of the ministerial committee of women empowerment, highlighted the need of providing support to all women and parliamentarians, in particular, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Ambassador Maria Hadjitheodosiou, the head of the European Union Delegation to Jordan, voiced the EU's commitment in supporting Jordan towards strengthening the democratic approach, according to His Majesty King Abdullah’s vision, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
