Jordanian official receives int’l award in telecommunications field

AMMAN — GSMA’s Mobile World Congress 2018 announced that Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) Chief Commissioner Ghazi Jbour has been awarded the Government Innovation Award for the emerging mobile telecommunications market 2018, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The announcement came during the ceremony which was attended by Spain’s King Felipe VI and GSMA CEO, as well as media representatives and telecommunication companies’ CEOs. GSMA Chief Regulatory Officer John Giusti said that the award is the first of its kind and had been introduced in 2018, noting that the winner was chosen by the CEO of GSMA.
He added that choosing Jbour as the winner was based on his intention and willingness to encourage mobile operators to develop, innovate and provide new services, as well as his positive approach on sustaining investment in this sector in Jordan and his effective role regionally. Jbour praised the association for its continued support of mobile phone operators globally.
