Jordanian-Japanese investment forum discusses opportunities in Kingdom

AMMAN — On the sidelines of Expo 2020 Dubai, Secretary General of the Ministry of Investment Zaher Qatarneh on Monday participated in the Jordanian-Japanese investment forum.

Qatarneh stressed the need to coordinate efforts to increase cooperation with Japan in the investment and economic fields, noting that the ministry is ready to provide all services needed by Japanese investors, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

In cooperation with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Qatarneh gave a presentation on the investment environment in the Kingdom and the comparative advantages it possesses.

JPIC director stressed the importance of such meetings, which bring together Japanese investors, pointing out that the cooperation between the sides is continuous and fruitful.

The Kingdom’s ambassador to Japan Lina Annab, who participated in the forum virtually, said that there is great interest from the Japanese side to invest in the region.

She described Jordan as an ideal destination for Japanese companies, stressing the embassy’s readiness to participate in any efforts that help increase economic cooperation between the countries.

Japanese Ambassador to the Kingdom Shimazaki Kaoru, participating virtually, said that the Jordanian-Japanese relations are distinguished, and that the embassy is ready to cooperate with the relevant authorities.

A group of the most important Japanese companies interested in investing in the Kingdom participated in the forum, such as Mitsubishi, Sumitomo, Mitsui, Itocho, Marubeni, Hitachi, MUFG Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, in addition to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO).

Participants from the Jordanian side included the Ministry of Investment, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Water, Jordanian Businessmen Association, Jordanian Banks Association, Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (int@j), and the Edama Association.

The forum, which was attended by Jordanian Consul General in Dubai Asem Ababneh, Economic Advisor in Dubai Nader Hammad, discussed the most important investment opportunities in the Kingdom.
