Jordanian composer prepares for grand finale of 2019 at Carnegie Hall

AMMAN — Jordanian film, TV and video game music composer Ghiya Rushidat is set to conclude 2019 with a debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City, as part of an event for the United Nations, where an orchestra ensemble will be performing the artist’s latest music compositions. 

“Having your music performed at Carnegie Hall is probably on every composers’ bucket list and I am honoured to be taking part in the United Nations’ event in Carnegie Hall later this year, especially as it is something that tackles the need for peace and unity in our world today, and is something that every human dreams of,” the artist said. 

Rushidat is one of few female composers of Arab heritage, and throughout her career has been mentored by a number of Hollywood composers. Currently, aside from preparing for her debut at Carnegie Hall, she is working on a drama/psychological thriller titled “The Misunderstanding of Carl Junior”, in which she is using “very unusual instruments” for the score and will have a full 80-piece orchestra under her direction.

Rushidat is especially interested in scoring films that are not traditionally offered to women, such as big action films, and released her first video game album this year.
