AMMAN — The ninth session of technical preparatory meetings of the Jordanian-Algerian Committee commenced on Sunday in Amman.
Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, Dana Zo’ubi, and Director-General of Arab Countries at the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Noureddine Khandoudi, chaired the meetings, which saw the participation of representatives of relevant ministries and institutions from both countries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The committee is scheduled to discuss a number of topics aimed at boosting collaboration between the two countries in many fields, with a focus on economy.
Zo’ubi said that the trade exchange volume between Jordan and Algeria, which stands at around $250 million, is still below the envisioned rate.
Increasing this figure requires further efforts to enhance trade, maximise the advantages of available opportunities and activate the trade cooperation agreement signed in 1997, Zo’ubi added.
For his part, Khandoudi said that this session of meetings revolves are advancing cooperation in the coming phase.
The Jordanian-Algerian Joint Committee is set to hold meetings on Tuesday under the presidency of the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and Minister of Labour Yousef Shamali and Algerian Minister of Finance Laaziz Faid.
