AMMAN — The Jordan Young Scientist (JoYS) Initiative, founded and funded by the Embassy of Ireland in Jordan, recently concluded its inaugural two-day bootcamp, marking a significant step in fostering innovation and empowering young minds in Jordan.
The JoYS bootcamp, held at The Core, the innovation centre of Al Hussein Technical University in Amman, brought together the winners of the year 2023 and 2022 and their teachers, according to a statement from the Irish embassy.
The JoYS bootcamp featured a series of workshops and seminars led by renowned experts and industry leaders. Over the course of two days, students and teachers engaged in intensive learning sessions and interactive workshops covering various fields such as entrepreneurship, cybersecurity, financial literacy, public speaking and intellectual property rights, alongside hands-on activities. The JoYS bootcamp’s aim was to nurture talent, inspire creativity, and promote social responsibility among youth, the statement said.
During the bootcamp, JoYS students and teachers embarked on an educational journey at the 1001 Inventions Exhibition, exploring historical and modern innovations in mathematics, physics and chemistry.
Following the event, the Ambassador of Ireland to Jordan, Marianne Bolger said: “It was a real pleasure to reconnect with the winning students during the JoYS Bootcamp event and to be reminded of their sheer talent, creativity and enthusiasm. It was also encouraging to hear how much the students benefited from the training as well as benefiting from the opportunity to share ideas and experiences with students from other schools from across Jordan.”
