AMMAN — Jordan on Tuesday welcomed the UN Security Council's decision to adopt a new resolution on Yemen, aimed at restoring stability and security to the country as soon as possible, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Jordan’s permanent representative at the UN, Dina Kawar, who chaired the council's meeting during the vote, said that Houthis' irresponsible practices, their continuous unilateral procedures and failure to abide by the council's decisions led it to adopt the resolution, according to Petra.
On her Twitter account, Kawar wrote: “Today’s #UNSC [resolution] under Chapter 7 is an important tool for supporting legitimacy in #Yemen & restoring its security & stability.”
Resolution 2216, she wrote, comprehensively addresses the situation in Yemen and focuses on the resumption of the political process and the need to end the humanitarian crisis.
