AMMAN — Jordan on Friday welcomed the announcement of signing a UN-brokered deal for a permanent ceasefire in Libya, which was signed on Thursday in Geneva.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Daifallah Fayez highlighted the importance of the agreement that “creates room for a Libyan-Libyan dialogue and serious political negotiations” aimed at ending the crisis, restoring Libya’s security and stability and ensuring Tripoli’s sovereignty in accordance with accredited references.
Such an agreement would protect the interests of the Libyan people and prevent all foreign interference in the North African country’s internal affairs, he added, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
