Jordan welcomes 2-month truce in Yemen

AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Friday welcomed the announcement made by the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg of reaching a two-month truce in Yemen and halting all military operations in Yemen.
Ministry Spokesperson Haitham Abul Foul stressed that Jordan supports the UN efforts to resolve the Yemeni crisis, according to a ministry statement.
Abul Foul also stressed that the Kingdom affirms the need to reach a political solution based on the accredited references of the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms, the outcomes of the comprehensive Yemeni national dialogue and UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
He also said that the Kingdom calls for building up on such a positive step in order to end the crisis in Yemen and alleviate the suffering of its people.
