Jordan, UAE trade exchange reached JD508 million in January-May period

AMMAN — Trade exchange between Jordan and the UAE amounted to JD508 million during the first five months of 2023, the Department of Statistics (DoS) said on Wednesday.
National exports to the UAE grew to JD150 million in the first five months of 2023, compared with JD70 million in the same period of 2022, DoS noted as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The Kingdom's imports from the UAE decreased during the January-May 2023 period to JD358 million against JD449 million in 2022.
Jordan's trade balance deficit with the UAE dropped to JD208 million compared with JD379 million for the same period last year.
The Kingdom's exports to the UAE mainly include cheese, vegetables, fruits, dried dates, spices, olive oil, meat, sugar, chocolate and dough.
On the other hand, Jordanian imports from the UAE include oil derivatives, chemicals, polyethylene, propylene polymers, paint, seafood, dairy products, legumes, grapes, dried dates, roasted coffee, seeds and spices.
