Jordan, UAE sign MoU for public sector development

AMMAN — Under the patronage of Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, Jordan on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the UAE for the development of the government apparatus’ performance and improve its services, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The MoU, which was signed by Minister of Public Sector Development Majd Shweikeh and UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammad Al Gergawi, came in line with the directives of the two countries’ leaderships aimed at enhancing and developing common procedures, recognising the importance of developing government services to benefit citizens and service recipients, as well as strengthening institutional capacity and mutual benefit in the development of government work.

The areas of cooperation are based on the exchange of expertise, experiences and best practices in the fields of developing government services, smart services, managing and evaluating institutional performance, innovation and excellence, building and developing leadership and capabilities, in addition to cooperation in the field of government development through knowledge transfer and benefit from mutual experiences in these areas.

The premier said in a statement following the signing that the agreement is related to the development of the public sector, where the UAE has taken very important steps, adding that there are opportunities to benefit from this profound experience. 

He noted that the MoU entails the establishment of an executable programme that will be vigorously monitored with regard to developing the performance of the public sector, improving government services and involving young people in the development processes, praising the UAE’s experience in this regard.

Razzaz affirmed that the bilateral ties are historical and well established, thanks to the support and care of the two countries’ leaderships.
