Jordan thanks Kuwait for Gulf grant contribution

AMMAN — Jordan on Monday thanked Kuwait for its support, especially for meeting its financial commitment to the Kingdom in terms of its contribution to the $5 billion Gulf Cooperation Council grant to finance development projects.

During a meeting with Kuwait’s Chief of General Staff of the Army Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al Khader and an accompanying delegation, Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour expressed Jordan’s appreciation of Kuwait’s positions in support of the Kingdom.

Ensour also highlighted the challenges that Jordan has to deal with in light of regional instability and the repercussions of the Syrian crisis.

As a result, Jordan is currently hosting more than 1.4 million Syrians, in addition to its handling the responsibilities of previous waves of refugees from Palestine and other countries that witnessed instability.

The premier expressed Jordan’s readiness to cooperate with Kuwait in all spheres, including those related to training and expertise exchange. 

Khader commended the strong Jordanian-Kuwaiti relations and highlighted the between the Jordanian and the Kuwaiti peoples. 

He underscored Jordan’s hospitability and its hosting refugees from many countries. 

Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Mohammad Momani attended the meeting.

Also on Monday, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben met with the Kuwaiti delegation. 

During the meeting, attended by HRH Prince Feisal, Zaben and Khader discussed ways to boost bilateral relations. 

Khader commended the advanced level of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army and the high level of cooperation between the two countries. 

Several senior army officers from both Kuwait and Jordan were present at the meeting.
