AMMAN — Jordan and Switzerland on Wednesday discussed means to enhance ties and the latest regional developments.

At a meeting with Simonetta Sommaruga, a member of the Swiss federal council and head of the federal department of justice and police, Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said Jordan is moving steadily towards democracy, which would result in bringing more investments to the Kingdom.

Discussions also covered the situation in Syria and Iraq and the Israeli escalation in the Palestinian territories.

A resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is the solution to the region’s woes, Ensour said, reviewing Jordan’s burdens resulting from hosting hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees.

Also Wednesday, Planning Minister Ibrahim Saif and Interior Minister Hussein Majali met separately with Sommaruga and discussed economic and security cooperation.

Sommaruga commended Jordan’s humanitarian efforts in serving Syrian refugees, adding that the Kingdom plays an important part in achieving regional security.
