AMMAN — The stage is set to celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Jordan this month.

“Several events are going to be held during summer in celebration of Korean-Jordanian diplomatic ties,” South Korea’s Ambassador to Jordan Lee Jae-Wan said during a media gathering at his residence on Monday.

Lee added that a joint taekwondo performance between the “K-Tigers” and the Jordanian Taekwondo Federation’s team will take place on July 26 at the Cultural Palace in Al Hussein Youth City.

“Jordan competition for K-pop World Festival will also be held in July,” the ambassador added.

K-pop is a form of popular music originating in South Korea.

First Secretary at the embassy Kim Jiyoung stated that any team can compete in this competition and that the winners will be nominated to perform in Korea.

“There’s no specific age group for participation. However, usually teenagers are more into this type of performance,” Jiyoung said.

The ambassador noted that 30 Jordanian K-pop teams will perform on July 31 at the Cultural Centre.

“The embassy invited a very famous K-pop band to perform in Jordan,” Lee added.

He stated that “Boys In Groove (B.I.G)” band will perform at the Jerash Cultural Festival on August 5.

“B.I.G will perform the following day at the Cultural Palace as well,” the ambassador said.
