AMMAN — The Jordan Response Plan for the Syria Crisis (JRP) only met 30 per cent, $670 million, of its funding requirements in 2022, according to Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan. The JRP's total funding requirements stand at $2.28 billion.

During a Parliamentary Financial Committee meeting over the 2023 draft budget of the ministry, Toukan said that international support for the JRP has declined over the past years, according to Al Mamlakah TV.

The international community's waning support for refugees, caused by global political and economic issues, has directly affected foreign assistance to the Kingdom, the minister urged the international community to shoulder its responsibility towards the refugees.

The US has renewed the fourth memorandum of understanding regarding assistance to Jordan, extending it to seven years and increasing aid from $1.275 billion to $1.450 billion, Toukan said.

All aid and grants are disbursed under the control of the competent authorities, and are subject to the monitoring and follow-up procedures of donors, she noted.
