Jordan renews support for Iraq as anti-Daesh fight continues

AMMAN – His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday met Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al Jaafari over the anti-terror fight developments and bilateral relations, a Royal Court statement said.
During the meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace, His Majesty asserted the importance of strengthening the brotherly relations with Iraq and supporting its security while it rises to confront challenges.
The King stressed Jordan's support to the Iraqi government's endeavours in combating extremist groups and commended the Iraqi military’s efforts in countering Daesh terror group.
The two sides discussed the regional developments and the means to deal with them in a way that guarantees stability and security in the region, the Royal Court statement said.
For his part, Jaafari expressed his appreciation to Jordan for its supportive stands towards Iraq in various fields.
Also on Monday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and ExpatriatesNasser Judeh met with the Iraqi top diplomat.
Judeh and Jaafari discussed bilateral relations, the situation in Iraq and the challenges that face the two countries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Judeh stressed Jordan’s support to Iraqi’s in various fields including security and reform.
Jaafari’s visit to Jordan comes as part of his tour seeking international and regional support for his country in countering Daesh terror group.
