Jordan records 7 virus cases, including 2 local infections

AMMAN — The Kingdom on Monday registered seven new COVID-19 cases, including two local infections, increasing the caseload to 1,128, with the health minister urging the public to adhere to anti-COVID-19 health requirements, as some countries have been witnessing a second wave of the pandemic.
The new cases included three Jordanians who recently returned to the Kingdom from Saudi Arabia and have been at quarantine hotels, two non-Jordanian truck drivers who tested positive at the Omari and Jaber border crossings and two guest workers who tested positive at the Karameh border crossing, according to a joint statement by the Prime Ministry and the Health Ministry.
Monday also witnessed seven recoveries — six from Prince Hamzah Hospital and one from the Queen Alia Hospital, while epidemiological investigation teams conducted 5,088 random virus tests nationwide, increasing the total number of tests to 379,796.
The statement, which classified the epidemiological status in the Kingdom as “moderate-risk”, reiterated the importance of adhering to the Health Ministry’s precautionary measures, including wearing masks and maintaining physical distancing as the government is continuing to reopen sectors.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Saad Jaber said the start of the second wave of the COVID-19 outbreak in China and many other countries calls for more caution in the application of preventive health measures, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
